EPI-DCOS® – Data Centre Operations Standard In 3 Minutes
Introduction DCOS® – Data Centre Operations Standard
Until now, organisations delivering data centre services focus on building highly resilient facilities by designing redundancy at various levels typically in accordance with standards such as ANSI/TIA-942 and others. However, many organisations have come to realise that without having adequate governance, processes, procedures and maintenance programs, the availability levels would be seriously impacted and “erode” the investment made in the data centre facility. DCOS® – Data Centre Operations Standard is the first and only complete standard addressing this important part of operating an effective and efficient data centre. The standard was first released in February 2016 and has already received a lot of attention in the market as the leading reference for data centre operations.

Summary:
DCOS® addresses all the 11 disciplines required to run a data centre efficiently and effectively. The standard describes an appropriate level of detail for each discipline which relates directly to measurable business results. The standard is by far the most complete data centre operations and maintenance standard available in the market today.
DCOS® is an auditable standard. The data centre operator/owner can choose to be audited for all the 11 disciplines and their integration, or choose selected disciplines which they consider the most critical for the data centre to be reviewed as standalone processes. An audit will provide the data centre operator/owner with a clear picture on the current levels of maturity of the various processes. It will allow the data centre operator/owner to set the right expectations on its capabilities within the organisation and to its external customers. Audit outcomes will benchmark the processes at 5-levels of maturity for each of the 11 disciplines under scope, based on internationally recognised and widely used process maturity benchmark levels as defined in ISO/IEC 15504.
Target Audience:
DCOS® is applicable to any type and size of data centre being it Enterprise data centres or Commercial data centres such as co-location providers, Cloud providers etc. Anybody who is involved governing, operating and maintaining data centres will benefit from this very practical standard.
